Be part of the Google I/O 2026 keynote with ‘Code the Countdown’

Google’s biggest show of the year always starts with a countdown. For I/O 2026, you can be part of it thanks to vibe coding.

This involves using the Gemini app’s Canvas feature or AI Studio to vibe code “your most creative idea that features a large number between 1 and 10 (or all of them)!”

In terms of requirements, or lack thereof: “This could be anything you imagine…A game? Fluid simulation? Playable synthesizer? Sure! As long as there’s a big number in the middle, it’s valid.”

Google provides two templates for inspiration or remixing:

Once you’re done, you need to create a “share link and drop it into this form by May 6.” Additionally: “Make sure to add one of your social handles below so we know how to credit you, and then tune into the livestream from 9:55AM PDT on May 19th to see if you were featured!”

Overall, this is a fun experience that leans into vibe coding.
