Pixel 11 debuts Gboard Rambler, location-aware At a Glance, and more Gemini Intelligence

Gemini Intelligence is a key aspect of Google’s new phones and many new features, as well as expansions, are debuting on the Pixel 11 series.

Task automation on the Pixel 11 series works in over 40 apps to let you offload orders and bookings.

Gboard Rambler goes beyond literal speech-to-text by filtering run-on sentences and filler words, like “umm” or “ah.” It captures your intent for a clean voice transcription in a short amount of time. When active, Rambler takes over Gboard’s suggestion strip with a new waveform animation.

You have to tap the checkmark once you’re done talking, with no live preview given the prompt-based nature where you issue commands. To add to or edit the previous output, tap the microphone icon (which is now badged with a spark) again. You can ask Google to change the style, expand, and even add emoji.

Google provides the option in Gboard settings to use the previous speech-to-text system.

Magic Cue is now called Proactive Assistance. These proactive and contextual suggestions work in more scenarios and with a richer interface. When you tap these chips, a new bottom sheet slides up. For example:

If someone in Google Messages asks what time your flight lands, a Proactive Assistance chip will note the flight number and arrival time. Tapping slides up a flight tracker with live status and gate details. This sheet gives you one-tap options for your response, like just the time or more details with a Google Search link.
When a friend suggests a restaurant, the sheet will show you a Google Maps summary with links to open the full app.
If someone wants to schedule a meeting and offers a time/date, the Proactive Assistance sheet will show your Calendar inline.

A more subtle integration is checking a Google Maps listing and then immediately opening a ride sharing app. When you tap the destination text field, Gboard will offer the address as a one-tap suggestion without you having to manually copy it from Maps.

Gemini Intelligence will offer to handle complex tasks like restaurant booking and product/location comparisons. Additionally, if you click on an event in an app, Gemini will suggest you save it to your schedule.

On the privacy front, Gemini Intelligence is designed to require explicit user control, protect data with Private AI Compute, and provide clear status updates.

Google is previewing a new At a Glance capability that uses your location to surface loyalty cards at stores and Google Maps listings when you’re at restaurants.

Last year’s Live Translate in phone calls is now being extended to podcasts and videos in YouTube and other supported apps for real-time audio dubbing thanks to Tensor G6.

Circle to Search is now accessible in the Pixel Camera view for quick translations and other information. Additionally, the Camera app can now translate sign language, with this experience integrated into Gboard.
