Update 8/14: After opening around $32,000 this morning, Schmidt’s auction landed around $56,000 just before closing this afternoon.
As Apple CEO Tim Cook and other tech executives have done in the past, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt is teaming up with CharityBuzz to auction off a coffee meeting for charity.
The meeting will take place with Schmidt at Google’s campus in New York City sometime after the winning bidder is declared on August 14 and last 30 minutes. Proceeds from the charity auction will go to the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.
The Executive Googler is excited to show off the $2 billion digs in Chelsea. When asked about the auction, Schmidt said, “I’m delighted to support the important work of RUSH which showcases and empowers young artists. I look forward to hosting the auction winner at Google NYC!”
At the time of publishing there is currently 4 bids with the winning bid at $8,000, but CharityBuzz puts an estimated value on the auction at $50k. That’s the same $50k estimate it gave Apple CEO Tim Cook’s latest auction that ended up bringing in $610,000.
