Android Wear options continue to thin out as the Huawei Watch disappears from Google Store

We’re in a bleak time for smartwatches where Motorola seems to be skipping the launch of Android Wear 2.0, Pebble is dead, and things aren’t looking good for the future of Android Wear in general. Now, one of the most popular Android Wear devices has disappeared from the Google Store ─ the Huawei Watch.

The Huawei Watch has proven to be one of the best smartwatch options on the market even though it’s been around for over a year. Offering a beautiful design, premium materials, and fantastic performance, the Huawei Watch was and still is a fantastic piece of hardware. In fact, the Huawei Watch was loved so much that Google made it one of only two Android Wear devices with access to the Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview.

However, the Huawei Watch has disappeared from the Google Store entirely. All variants — including the Women’s versions— have been removed from the Android Wear page and while it is still accessible via a direct link, the watch is still listed as “unavailable.”

This move leaves the Google Store with just five different Android Wear devices available ─ The Moto 360 (2015), Polar M600, Michael Kors Access Dylan & Bradshaw, and the Nixon Mission. Luckily, if you do still want a Huawei Watch, it’s still available from other retailers such as Amazon.
