Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 now $300 off, OnePlus Open pre-order deals, more

Last week saw the new OnePlus Open debut at $200 off, and now Samsung is looking to match the price tag with a discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 at $1,500. It’s joined by the first discounts on Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 6 Bespoke smartwatches from $250, too. Hit the jump for all that and more in the latest 9to5Toys Lunch Break.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 now $300 off

Not to let OnePlus have all of the fun with its new Open foldable, Samsung is making sure to remind shoppers that it has one of the most tried and true folding smartphones on the market by offering some markdowns. Courtesy of Amazon, the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 drops to $1,500 for the unlocked 256GB smartphone. It would normally set you back $1,800, but today’s offer takes $300 off. This is the second-best price cut we’ve seen so far. It also matches the pre-order discount on the OnePlus Open, giving you a fairer choice between the two foldables. We take a closer look at the whole experience in our hands-on review.

The new Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the latest iteration of Samsung’s massive folding smartphone. In its current form, not all too much has changed. There is notably a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip now under the hood as well as Android 13 out of the box, but last year’s form factor almost entirely remains. There’s still an interior 7.6-inch display that pairs with a secondary 6.2-inch screen on the outside. Samsung has at least spent a lot of this year’s focus on the hinge design, ultimately resulting in both sides of the screen folding a bit closer than before, all while slimming down the overall thickness.

OnePlus Open foldable debuts with $200 off pre-order discount

The new OnePlus Open smartphone is now official. And to celebrate its launch, OnePlus has a new discount live for those who pre-order its first-ever foldable. The OnePlus Open now sells for $1,500. It’s down from the $1,700 price tag that will arrive when it officially begins shipping later this fall. This is, of course, the first discount so far at $200 off and comes in both Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black colorways. If you’re more of an Amazon shopper, pre-ordering the smartphone there will score you a $200 gift card. Get the full scoop over in our launch hands-on review.

The new OnePlus Open arrives as the company’s first foldable smartphone. The inner display features a 7.82-inch panel, which unfolds like a book, with an outer 6.31-inch screen complementing its larger counterpart. One of the new smartphone’s claims to fame is that it’s lighter than just about any other foldable on the market, clocking in at 239 grams. The company’s usual collaboration with Hasselblad continues, offering a 48MP rear camera array on the back. All of that then comes powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

Galaxy Watch 6 Bespoke see first discounts

Amazon is now offering the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Bespoke Edition smartwatches on sale for the first time. Pricing starts at $250 for the 40mm model, which drops down from the usual $300 going rate. It’s $50 off, and marking the only discount we’ve seen since Samsung launched the new wearables last month. The savings also carry over to the larger 43mm model, which drops from its usual $420 price tag down to $370. It’s the same $50 in savings and a new all-time low.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 6 revives a different class of premium wearables from the brand that steps up to deliver a stainless steel build. There’s, of course, a robust list of fitness monitoring capabilities onboard, including heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and a new BIA sensor for even more in-depth stats – all of which are powered by Wear OS 4. Get a better idea of what to expect in our announcement coverage that takes a hands-on look.
