Following the Pixel Buds Pro 2, Find My Device network support is now rolling out to Sony headphones and earbuds.
Updates (via Mishaal Rahman) to the Sony WH-1000XM5 (version 2.3.1), WF-1000XM5 (4.0.2), and LinkBuds S (4.2.1) bring support for “Google’s Find My Device (only during dedicated Classic Audio connection)” and an “Auto Switch” feature.
Earlier this year, Google only listed the WH-1000XM5 as getting FMD support, along with the JBL Tour Pro 2 and One M2.
Meanwhile, Sony this week rebranded the “Headphones Connect” companion app to “Sound Connect,” with the on-device name going from “Headphones” to “Sound Connect.” As such, it’s truncated for most people.
The recognizable yellow headphones icon is replaced by something more abstract. There’s now a Material 3 bottom bar, while device settings were reorganized and placed into familiar cards. Additionally:
- In the [My Device] tab, a simplified settings screen and shortcut functions allow you to easily set up frequently used functions.
- In the [Discover] tab, You can get notified recommended features based on your device usage for further customization.
- Auto Play function is now available in this application.
