Gemini adds split-screen on Android tablets, foldables

After introducing for the latest Samsung foldables earlier this year, the Gemini overlay now has a shortcut that lets you quickly enter split-screen multitasking on large-screen Android devices.

The Gemini overlay adds a centered handle bar on the top edge that you can drag to have the chatbot be side-by-side (left/right/top/bottom) with whatever app you were just using.

This might be handy if you’re reading or watching something and want Gemini to be immediately accessible.

We’re now seeing this split-screen shortcut today on the Pixel Tablet and Fold after previously only getting this when using Gemini on Samsung devices. It’s not showing up on Android phones we’ve checked today.
