The OnePlus 13 has been highly anticipated due to the success of the OnePlus 12, which launched just around a year ago. The company has officially set a date for the launch and details what that will bring.
There’s a lot we already know about the OnePlus 13 prior to launch, which is getting ready for a global release. The design includes some hardware changes that should improve the lineup significantly, like a 6,000mAh battery and a flat display. On the flip side, it doesn’t look like the phone will bring the new Qi2 standard.
Today, OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 13 would launch on January 7, 2025. That launch will unveil the new flagship from the company along with a new variant of the OnePlus Buds 3 Pro. It’s confirmed that the phone will feature a slim design with three cameras on the back of the device in a configuration we’re all too familiar with. Internally, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and will run OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 right out of the box.
The back of the phone in the Midnight Ocean colorway will be equipped with micro-fiber vegan leather, which OnePlus says is scratch-resistant. The phone will also come in Black Eclipse and Arctic Dawn — the latter of which will utilize a surface-based glass coating for a smooth feel.
The company notes that the phone will be IP69 certified, which means it can handle being submerged in water at a higher temperature of around 174 degrees Fahrenheit. The certification improves on the familiar IP68 rating and gives it a little more endurance in more circumstances. When the OnePlus 13 launches, it will be one of the few with the new standard.
As far as the OnePlus Buds 3 Pro variant goes, the company notes that nothing about performance will change, and the buds will simply come in a new Sapphire Blue colorway. This is a little disappointing, as it would have been nice to see a successor to the buds.
The January 7 launch date for the OnePlus 13 coincides with CES 2025, which will be in full swing at that point.
