According to Verizon, the January 2025 Pixel update is rolling out starting Tuesday, January 7.
As is typical, the first update of the new year did not arrive on Monday. The US carrier lists the release date for the January 2025 Android Security Patch Level as January 7, 2025 with software version AP4A.250105.002 for all currently supported devices.
The Pixel 6 and 7 just get the latest security patch, while Pixel 8 series sees two fixes:
- Audio: Addressed audio delay and stability issue when using certain apps
- User Interface: Addressed Pixel launcher themed icon color display issue in certain conditions
The Pixel Launcher issue in question should be how light and dark Themed icons were flipped. Google is fixing this problem directly, though most users were able to address this bug introduced last month with Android 15 QRP1 by manually switching Dynamic Color themes.
Finally, the Pixel 9 series gets the Audio and UI updates in addition to:
- Camera: Addressed a camera stability issue when switching to a connected camera under certain conditions
- Display and Graphics: Addressed an issue with flashing lines on screen in certain conditions
The January 2025 Pixel OTA should start rolling out later today after Google announces the update.
Google yesterday did reveal that the Pixel 4a is getting one last update starting on Wednesday as part of a Battery Performance Program.
