During an Android 15 update, some users began experiencing issues with gestures on their Pixel 8 Pro. According to Google, that bug will be seeing a fix in an upcoming update.
The Pixel 8 Pro received an update to Android 15 around the same time that many other Pixel devices did. The update brought last year’s flagship up to speed with some of Google’s best features. The update mostly incorporates quality-of-life features, with most AI tools coming in updates to Google’s apps.
Right after that update was pushed, a portion of Pixel 8 Pro users noticed that the back gesture — used by swiping your finger from the edge of the screen — was suddenly broken. According to those users, swiping from the right side of the screen simply does not work 99% of the time. Some users noted that because of the issue, the Pixel 8 Pro is almost unusable.
That bug had no fixes, and it’s still a problem for the Pixel 8 Pro.
In an update to an existing official issue tracker thread, Google support has stated that the back gesture bug will be fixed “in an upcoming release.” The note doesn’t mention which update the bug will be fixed in or when it will roll out.
It’s likely that the fix will be bundled in the February security patch, which generally houses small updates meant to fix issues like the one mentioned. The Pixel 8 Pro is included in this group of devices receiving monthly updates since it’s in the second year of seven promised security updates.
