Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge is reportedly incredibly thin, but it’s also apparently quite light in weight despite its large screen size.
The Galaxy S25 Edge was unveiled towards the end of January’s Unpacked event for the rest of the Galaxy S25 series, bringing with it our first look at the thinner hardware. There are still a lot of details that haven’t been publicly discussed, though.
One of those details is the weight of this thinner, but still fairly large smartphone. Samsung compared the Galaxy S25 Edge to the Galaxy S24+ and other prior generations of its “base” large-screen flagship to compare the thickness. That puts the Edge at a screen size around 6.7-inches, as has been rumored.
Despite that size, though, the Galaxy S25 Edge will reportedly carry a total weight under 162g, leaker Ice Universe claims. It’s said the Edge will weigh less than the base Galaxy S25, which weighs in at 162g with its much smaller 6.2-inch display. To have a much larger device weigh even less is impressive, but there’s a simple reason for it.
The rumor mill believes Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge will be equipped with a 3,900 mAh. That’s actually smaller than the one in the base Galaxy S25. The battery makes up a significant portion of the weight of modern smartphones, so the Galaxy S25 Edge’s smaller pack certainly contributes greatly to the lesser weight.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in April, as we previously reported and leaker Max Jambor has recently partially corroborated.
