For some drivers, the latest updates to Android Auto have broken support for using a wireless connection, and with no immediate fix.
A number of reports on Google’s support forums in the past week or two show a trend of wireless Android Auto suddenly no longer working. This appears to be tied, at least in part, to the Android Auto v13.4 and v13.5 updates which rolled out in late January and early February. For some devices and/or vehicles, these updates seem to have caused problems, but not universally.
For now, reports of these issues are not particularly widespread. Rather, there are just enough canaries in the coal mine to suggest that something may be amiss.
Users report that Android Auto simply doesn’t connect wirelessly, but still works when plugged in via a USB cable. For some, a reboot temporarily fixes the problem, but there’s no firm fix available yet.
Google hasn’t provided any direct acknowledgment of the potential problems, but it’s likely the company will roll out fixes via future updates. Currently, Android Auto v13.8 is rolling out via the beta track, with versions 13.6 and 13.7 also available to users via the stable track.
