2026 is shaping up to be a big year from Samsung, with the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z TriFold set to launch within the next couple of months. Now, rumors suggest Samsung sees a big future for its Galaxy Z Flip series, and it all revolves around Exynos.
According to a new report from The Bell (via Jukan on Twitter), Samsung wants its Flip series to once again rely exclusively on its in-house Exynos chips, following in the footsteps of this year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7. That would leave Qualcomm on the outside looking in of Samsung’s flagship clamshell series, and potentially give the Exynos 2600 — Samsung’s next-gen 2nm chip — another big debut space without much competition. This news comes on the heels of similar Galaxy S26 rumors, suggesting that, in large portions of the world, at least two of the three S26 models will utilize Exynos as well.
Samsung hasn’t made the Exynos 2600 official just yet, though it has begun teasing the chip on its YouTube channel. Today’s report points to plenty of potential for the 2600, though, with rumors suggesting “up to” 29% faster speeds in its GPU compared to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Ironically, that’s the chip that’s bound to land in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8, where improved gaming performance is bound to leave a more noticeable impact thanks to that large folding display. The Exynos 2600 also reportedly outscores both Snapdragon and Apple’s A19 chip in NPU performance, in case you’re begging for improved local AI speeds in 2026.
Despite some recent struggles attracting customers, it’s clear Samsung isn’t ready to leave the chip business just yet. Reviews of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 suggested the Exynos 2500 was a far cry from some of its more controversial predecessors, cracking solid performance while simultaneously falling short of Qualcomm. Samsung’s definitely hoping for an even more impressive outing next year, and combined with a rumored slimmer redesign, it could be the clamshell to watch out for.
