Xiaomi 17 series reportedly skips rear-display model in Europe, launching February 28

A new leak reveals Xiaomi’s plans for the launch of the Xiaomi 17 series in Europe, but with one of the most interesting versions missing.

The Xiaomi 17 series launched in September 2025 with a pretty impressive setup. Being one of the first phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, it was already a powerful lineup, but the hardware stood out for one big reason – a display on the back. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max both offer a rear-facing display that can serve some added functionality, as well as just making the two phones stand out from the crowd a bit.

But, apparently, Xiaomi isn’t bringing these to Europe.

Dealabs reports that Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 17 series in Europe on February 28, just ahead of MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. The standard Xiaomi 17 will start at €999 for the 12GB/256GB model, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra – announced in December – will start at €1,499 for a 16GB/512GB model.

Neither of the “Pro” models will be making their way to Europe, apparently, at least for the time being. The Xiaomi 15 Pro didn’t launch in Europe either, with the later-released MediaTek-powered Xiaomi 15T Pro seeing a wider global launch. So, while it’s not a huge surprise, it is a shame that the European market won’t be getting the rear display option.

The report goes on to mention that Xiaomi 17 will be available in Black, “Venture Green,” “Ice Blue,” and “Alpine Pink” color variants, while Xiaomi 17 Ultra will offer Black, White, and “Starlit Green.”
