Galaxy devices may soon let creators connect high-quality mics with One UI 8.5

Samsung’s Galaxy series, especially as you reach the high-end in price, seems to want to cater to professional video more every year. After adding pro video codecs, Samsung is now offering the option to connect up to two 24-bit audio inputs via Bluetooth with an “Advanced Audio” app.

According to a post by @GalaxyTechie on Twitter/X, Samsung’s One UI 8.5 brings a new option for content creators and professionals who use lav or other wireless mics. The new features appear to exist under a new Samsung app called Advanced Audio. The feature pops up in the live notifications settings or under the Now Bar configuration section.

The tool seems to be straightforward, though it’s limited to certain brands for the time being. That includes DJI, namely, with little detail on what else can be added. The info page simply says that devices that transmit 24-bit audio can be used, but Galaxy devices on One UI 8.5 need to recognize the device before it can be enabled.

Samsung’s Advanced Audio in One UI 8.5 supports up to two microphones for synced recording. That proves useful for interviews or other formats where two people need their own input mics. Samsung’s devices will then get options for noise reduction and gain through the options. The Now Bar is where the function seems to make the best sense, since quick access and ease of use are key.

The app and settings haven’t officially been made available, and it isn’t clear when that will happen. The spotted function is from an unreleased APK, so there’s no telling what the public version will look like.

In effect, this is simply a proof of concept that Samsung is working on more professional recording tools.
