Galaxy S25 series is getting its sixth One UI 8.5 beta update

One UI 8.5 beta is still going strong, though it’s nearing its final few updates – hopefully. Samsung is currently rolling out the Galaxy S25 series’ patch for the latest beta version of One UI 8.5.

One UI 8.5 should, theoretically, head into its final public version soon. Until then, Samsung seems committed to pushing updates for devices on the pre-release version. That includes the Galaxy S25 series, with the latest Galaxy S26 lineup officially out, running the final software.

The Galaxy S25’s One UI 8.5 beta 6 update brings a few bug fixes for the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, totalling 568MB (via @tarunvats33). It doesn’t look like any major features are included in this software push.

For one, there’s a change to Bixby since the latest version became available in the previous update. On the new Galaxy S26 series, Bixby gets an upgrade with Perplexity to power its information backlog. A bug fix addresses an issue with hotword creation.

There are several more changes worth noting:

  • Fixed an issue with the Bixby > Labs > Create wake-up phrase feature.
  • Fixed an issue where two “View Previous Image” buttons appeared when using the sketch conversion feature in the Gallery.
  • Fixed issues with the text, icons, and AOD visibility of Now Bar/Now Brief recommendation cards.
  • Fixed a forced close issue when changing the camera area settings in Settings > Display.
  • Fixed an issue where the lock screen style of Basic mode was changed in Modes and Routines.
  • Improved animation related to notification cards.

The One UI 8.5 beta 6 update is technically beta version 5 for users in India, where this patch ic currently rolling out. For users in the US and Europe, beta 6 should become available relatively soon.

This comes as Samsung has started the timer on its final version. Since the Galaxy S26 is official with One UI 8.5 in full swing, users on previous versions are going to want the same features. With its new SoC and AI improvements, it will stay in a good spot for future updates.

For users on the Galaxy S25 series, it may be worth upgrading to the new Ultra variant, since it’s the only one without a price increase.
