Nothing revealed its new Phone (4a) series yesterday and, in a “blink and you’ll miss it” reveal, the company is bringing the Phone (4a) Pro to the US for the first time – here’s why I’m pretty excited about that.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro was a pleasant surprise this week as, outside of some specs, the phone managed to stay mostly a secret. In a time where everything leaks, that was a nice change of pace.
And, in my first impressions, I was rather happy with what the Phone (4a) Pro brought to the table.
While the new hardware is a big departure from the company’s past, it feels nice in the hand and does look pretty nice, too. But it’s the bigger picture that I think really matters here. Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is a very well-rounded device for its price. Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a bright FHD+ display, plenty of memory and storage, and just enough software updates is a fairly compelling package, but it gets even better thanks to the camera array and Nothing’s usual quirky approach to features. I’m excited to get into reviewing this device – stay tuned over the next few weeks – but I’m already pretty much sold on the value it packs in.
That’s why it’s a pretty exciting release in the US market.
The US is starved of good mid-range smartphones. Of course, the Pixel 10a is excellent (and offers a lot more software updates) at the same $499 price point, and the iPhone 17e looks a lot more compelling versus the prior model. But outside of those two, there’s really not much worth considering, and customers have voted on that with their wallets.
I don’t expect Nothing to suddenly become a household name or anything, but I think Phone (4a) Pro will be a fairly compelling release when it lands in the States. For those willing to buy their device outside of a carrier, it very much deserves to be a part of the conversation at $499, and pending a final verdict, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t a device I’d actively recommend right alongside Google’s mid-ranger, especially if it ends up going on sale as often as Phone (3) has.

When Nothing Phone (4a) Pro lands in the US later this month, it will be sold on Amazon right alongside Nothing Headphone (a).
The base Nothing Phone (4a) is not going to be actively sold in the US. That’s a bit of a shame in my book, as there are not nearly enough good Android phones in the $349 ballpark Nothing would be selling the device in. Nothing lacks the carrier partnerships to make such a device successful in the US, but I think it would be a really good option. Hopefully, we’ll see that change next time around.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to Nothing’s latest release?
