Following the official end of the Galaxy Z TriFold, a new report claims that a sequel to the foldable could be coming next year, while a slideable phone is also in the works.
A leaker on Naver claims that Samsung is planning to launch two more foldables in addition to the standard Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices within the next year or two.
First up, a sequel to the Galaxy Z TriFold.
Samsung is currently testing the “feasibility” of this new device, which would be lighter compared to the first-generation TriFold, but potentially a bit thicker – the translation of the post is a bit rough. This device would apparently see the light of day as soon as mid-2027.
That’s a bit of a surprise given how quickly Samsung took the first Galaxy Z TriFold off of the market. The device launched in Korea in December and made its way to the US in January, and is now being discontinued. Samsung’s alleged reasoning was, in part, the complexity of the design, so it seems likely a new model would refine the device in hopes of making it easier to produce, which could explain a potentially thicker device.
Beyond that, Samsung may have a slideable phone coming sooner than later. This device would apparently expand its display to around 7 inches without an automatic mechanism. Samsung showed off an version of this device at MWC (and CES 2025 prior to that) and, apparently, a retail version would be thinner and also have better stability than that early proof-of-concept.
While foldables are arguably “mainstream” at this point, slideable/rollable display concepts have yet to see any major release. This supposed release from Samsung would debut as soon as late 2027, or could be sometime in 2028.
