Samsung has another book-style foldable in the works this year, with the “Wide” Galaxy Z Fold model now leaking with its shorter and wider design in tow.
The “Wide” Galaxy Z Fold, whatever it may be called, is going to be pretty different from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, and that largely boils down to the dimensions.
Leaked renders and information from @OnLeaks were posted by Android Headlines, offering an early look at what Samsung’s wider foldable will look like. And, sure enough, it looks very wide, with a design more similar to the original Pixel Fold as we’ve been saying.

The dimensions are key here, though, especially when you put them side-by-side with the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Dimensions
- Unfolded: 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.5mm
- Folded: 158.4 x 72.8 x 9mm
Galaxy Z Fold ‘Wide’ Dimensions
- Unfolded: 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9mm
- Folded: 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8mm
In terms of actual width, Samsung’s new foldable isn’t really that much wider than the Fold 8 at just 18.2mm wider when unfolded, and just 9.4mm wider when folded. It’s rather the “height” that matters, with the standard Fold 8 being over 34mm taller. That’s what pushes the aspect ratio to be so much wider.
It’s also notable that this wider design is also thicker than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is already a hair thicker than the Fold 7.
Beyond this, the leak also shows that Samsung will be dropping a camera for this new form factor, supporting only a dual-camera setup. The reasoning here isn’t very obvious, but that’s certainly unfortunately and likely to be a factor when debating between the two.
This “Wide” Fold exists basically just to match Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, which is expected to share the same form factor.
What do you think of this new “Wide” foldable?
