All eyes are on Samsung’s next book-style foldable, with the “Wide” release reportedly adopting a whole new form factor. According to a known leaker, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide” will have slightly different dimensions than initially expected, both in that it’s thinner and has an inner display more like an iPad.
Leaker Ice Universe reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide” will measure 82.2 x 123.9 x 9.8mm when folded, hitting 161.4mm when unfolded and being just 4.3mm thin. That’s quite a bit thinner than the Huawei Pura X Max that launched recently, and it’s also thinner (when unfolded) compared to the initial reporting of 4.9mm.
What’s a bit more interesting here, though, is the aspect ratio of the display.
Where previous leaks suggested an aspect ratio around 16:10, this latest report claims the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide” will have an aspect ratio of 4:3. That perfectly matches Apple’s iPad, and also is what the iPhone foldable is expected to bring to the table. A 4:3 aspect ratio isn’t quite as ideal for video content, but it’ll probably work out quite well for apps and other content.
Samsung is expected to launch this “Wide” foldable in July alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8.
