According to a new report, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 will finally get some needed spec updates, including improved cameras and battery size.
Alleged specs for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung’s “Wide” foldable, whatever that might end up being called, were published by https://techmaniacs.gr/ TechManiacs, a Greek tech publication (via GSMArena).
For the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the report says Samsung will be using Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in its new foldable with the device weighing in at 210g and 4.1mm when unfolded – that’s a hair thinner and 5g lighter. The cameras, meanwhile, would re-use the 200MP main and 10MP selfie cameras, while upgrading the ultrawide camera to 50MP. There’s no mention of what the telephoto will use, with Fold 7 currently using a 10MP sensor.
The biggest upgrade is the battery, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s wildly outdated 4,400 mAh battery finally jumping up to 5,000 mAh on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. A previous leak mentioned the same battery size, but also suggested Samsung’s foldable would be getting thicker, not thinner.
As for Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide,” the report claims the device will have a 4:3 inner display aspect ratio, two 50MP rear cameras for wide and ultrawide, a 4,800 mAh battery, and weight “around” 200g.
This all lines up with previous rumors, but it’s worth taking with a grain of salt. The same publication previously leaked details around last year’s Samsung event, correctly reporting on a new Watch Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 7’s bigger battery, but getting the thickness of Galaxy Z Fold 7 wrong by a notable margin.
