Google is no stranger to bundling services together to deliver a more attractive package, especially in its Gemini era. Today, the company is building YouTube Premium into more of its various paid AI plans, meaning most subscribers will get a much better video streaming experience at no additional cost.
For most users, it’s YouTube Premium Lite that will be included in their monthly subscription. Google’s $20/month AI Pro plan, which recently received a boost up to 5TB of cloud storage, now includes Premium Lite on all individual plans. While Premium Lite is more restrictive than its more expensive counterpart, you still get an elevated YouTube experience out of it, including no ads on non-music videos, background play, and downloads. Throw in the 5TB cloud storage perk, and even if you aren’t using Gemini, it’s tricky not to see the AI Pro plan as worth its $20/month price regardless.
Meanwhile, YouTube Premium — without the restrictions Lite includes — is still included as part of Google’s top-tier AI Ultra subscription, newly re-priced at “just” $100 per month. It’s a sweet perk, I suppose, but the best bang-for-your-buck still resides in that $20 AI Pro plan.
If you’re looking to find the best of both worlds, current AI Pro subscribers can also sign up for the full YouTube Premium experience at a discounted rate. We’ve seen discounts as steep as 50% off, while my current AI Plus account gets an offer to save 25% on my monthly Premium subscription. Either way, it’s some well-deserved savings.
