Samsung is planning two Galaxy Z Fold 8 models for launch this year, and one is confirmed to have “Ultra” in the name.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra was spotted in the Bluetooth SIG database. Five entries have been recorded so far, with individual model numbers for what are several different variants of the same device (via SumahoDigest). We’ve seen this name before, but the certifications only give those rumors more weight with the added reliability of official documentation.
No other details are available in the listing, so we can’t confirm any specs for the new device. But it does confirm Samsung plans to stick “Ultra” to the end of one of the devices. Recently, expectations are that the company will name the short, wider version of the foldable by the standard naming scheme with no identifier at the end. If that happens, the wide version will just be the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will then take the place of what was originally thought to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It comes with a similar footprint to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and should bring a few improvements to differentiate itself as the “Ultra” version Samsung wants it to be.
Previous leaks note that the standard, but ultra, version will bring a 5,000mAh battery and run on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It should measure around 4.1mm unfolded, which makes it a thinner device and slightly lighter.
