According to a new leak, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be bringing back Snapdragon chips amid higher costs on the Exynos 2600.
Samsung foldables were, for several generations, a Snapdragon-only affair. Exynos didn’t appear until 2025’s Galaxy Z Flip 7, where Samsung completely ditched Snapdragon globally for its own chip. But, in a surprising twist, that decision is already being reversed.
Leaker Lanzuk on Naver says that Samsung will be using Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the Galaxy Z Flip 8 alongside Exynos 2600 as Samsung’s chip is “expensive” where Qualcomm offered Samsung a “favorable” price.
Snapdragon would be used in some regions for Flip 8 while Exynos would be used in others, as has been the case for many Galaxy flagships over the years. Historically, the United States would get Snapdragon variants, while Exynos would be used in Europe and many other regions, but there’s no word on how the split would be handled just yet.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to be a relatively minor update, but it should arrive in late July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Galaxy Watch 9.
