LG ‘StanbyME 2’ is a new battery-powered 32-inch touchscreen on wheels [Gallery]

LG has announced the “StanbyME 2 Max,” a new 32-inch touchscreen display on wheels designed to let you bring media, phone mirroring, and more essentially anywhere.

The “StanbyME 2 Max” is, at its core, essentially a gigantic tablet. It has a 32-inch touchscreen with a 4K 60Hz panel and LG’s webOS running the show. It’s powered by LG’s A8 processor and packs apps and free channels, as well as some specialized features specific to this form factor such as a new app launcher that you won’t find on LG’s webOS-based TVs. You can mirror content from a mobile device or use the built-in apps.

It’s all powered by a built-in battery that can run for up to 4.5 hours and is charged over USB-C. The entire display can also be detached from the base, which itself has a flexible stand. There’s a kickstand on the back of the display, as well as a remote that can be stored with magnets.

LG hits the highlights, explaining:

  • Just touch the screen to control StanbyME 2 MAX and easily draw, explore educational content, game and bring your idea to life
  • 4X the detail of Full HD for sharper, more defined images
  • Faster AI processing for enhanced picture with a8 AI Processor 4K Gen3
  • LG’s award winning smart platform powered by webOS. Get access to apps & over 400 free LG Channels. Plus software updates with webOS Re:New¹
  • Mood Maker sets the vibe through content, artwork and themes such as a clock, weather, a turntable and more
  • TV Mirroring: Seamlessly Connect and Share with a mobile device
  • Cinematic picture and sound with Dolby Vision® & Dolby Atmos®²

As for the cost, it’s not exactly cheap.

You’ll pay $1,299 for the LG StanbyME 2 Max, but given this is a 4K touchscreen display, it doesn’t seem that far out of line. We went hands-on with a similar concept last year, with a 32-inch FHD display that was around $800~. LG also sold a past generation with a 27-inch display that was right around $1,000.
