Following in the footsteps of Lenovo’s Legion Tab, Redmagic has confirmed that its next compact Android gaming tablet will see a global launch, with Astra 2 right around the corner.
Lenovo’s Legion Tab has ushered in a fairly popular new form factor for Android gaming, with smaller displays around 8-9 inches in size but without cutting out performance, using flagship chips under the hood. But as good as the Legion Tab series is, last year we were pretty impressed by the Redmagic Astra as an alternative thanks to its use of an OLED display, the inclusion of secure biometrics, and more.
It’s getting a sequel.
Redmagic has been testing its “Gaming Tablet 5 Pro” for the past few months, and the launch is imminent. But that version of the tablet was always going to be a China-only affair.
In a post on Twitter/X, Redmagic confirms that its next compact gaming tablet will be heading to the rest of “the world” as the “Redmagic Astra 2.”

There’s no word on pricing or release date here, but we know the Redmagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is set to launch on June 30. The tablet is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, has liquid cooling, and it set to be an absolute powerhouse across the board.
