Samsung always opens reservations just a couple of weeks before announcing a new phone to drive hype. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is no different, as a leak suggests the reservation program starts tomorrow.
According to a post from @yabhishekhd on Twitter/X, Samsung is expected to open up a reservation program for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, as well as the two smartwatches we expect to see – the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
The leak offers very little in terms of user benefits. That’s the driving force for these programs when Samsung rolls them out before a big launch. In the past, we’ve seen $50 credits and raffles for $5,000 rewards offered to users if they provide an email when signing up. But those details don’t often get announced until the day of.
It’s also unclear how Samsung plans to approach trade-in pricing, since that’s baked into the reservation offers. With recent reports saying the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be more expensive than its true predecessor, while the Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra series both go up, it’s unknown whether Samsung will offer similar discounts with a trade-in.
In any case, a July 8 reservation puts the signup period exactly two weeks ahead of the July 22 launch date. Don’t stray too far from 9to5Google, because more details are surely coming.
