Xgimi says its new Elfin Flip Laser and 4K projectors are portable, with a strong caveat.
The Elfin Flip 4K and Elfin Flip Laser don’t have a battery that allows them to work on the go, which is where the term “portable” gets a little confusing. Xgimi has released options with a battery in the past, like the Mogo 4 series, but the Elfin Flip series is meant to stay in the house.
Both Google TV projectors have an RBG Triple Laser light engine with up to 1,600 ISO lumens. Where the two differ is in contrast and resolution. The Elfin Flip Laser has a shorter contrast range, and the more premium Elfin Flip 4K can handle a bit more depth at 20,000:1.
Xgimi designed both of these adorable projectors to be placed anywhere. They have automatic keystone and focus correction, so setting them in the perfect spot every time isn’t necessary. They’re meant to be moved around to offer a good picture wherever you go. Xgimi even says the Elfin Flip series has wall color adaptation and obstacle avoidance to adapt to each room.

Each includes a built-in 7W Harman Kardon speaker system for Dolby Audio support. External audio is an option, but it’s not necessary.
The Flin Flip 4K looks like it will be a great option for gaming, too. The projector can reach 120Hz at 1080p, which makes swapping from a monitor to a bigger screen easier for handheld or console devices.
The Elfin Flip Laser and Elfin Flip 4K launch today on Xgimi’s website for $799 and $999, respectively. They’ll also be available on Amazon in the coming days.
