Amid Oppo’s restructuring plans that have led to the shutdown of OnePlus in global markets, Realme has officially confirmed it will exit the China market to focus on global markets instead.
In a post on Weibo, Realme’s Shen Qi explains that Realme will “[press] the pause button” in China, “concentrating” on overseas markets.
Realme is already sold in portions of Europe, and that will apparently be the focus going forward. A report earlier this week claims that Oppo is focusing Realme on the Nordic region of Europe, including countries including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Qi explains:
For a young brand, learning to “focus” often requires more courage than “moving forward with inertia.” Today, I want to be honest with you: realme will be pressing the pause button on the Chinese market. This is a decision made after careful consideration. In the future, we will concentrate our resources on cultivating overseas markets, focusing on performance and gaming, and bringing cutting-edge technology to the world.
For all realme users in China who have already chosen realme, please rest assured that the continued sales and after-sales warranty of existing realme models will be fully handled by the OPPO official team. As for system updates, after the release of the next generation of ColorOS, realme users can update to the ColorOS system when they receive an update notification. We guarantee that everyone’s rights will be protected.
The other important note here is that, both in China and abroad, Realme UI is going away, with ColorOS instead taking over. The same is happening to OnePlus’ OxygenOS starting with Android 17, and Realme has confirmed its plans are identical.
