Xiaomi’s version of the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 shows up in hands-on leak ahead of launch

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is officially launching next month and, ahead of its formal debut, a hands-on leak is showing off the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8-like form factor.

At an event in China earlier this week, Xiaomi confirmed that its Xiaomi 18 Fold would debut sometime in September, powered by the new XRING 03 chipset – the successor to last year’s XRING 01, Xiaomi’s self-designed smartphone chip.

Xiaomi mostly teased the chip, which looks to be a bit behind Apple’s A19 Pro, but a big upgrade over the last-generation model.

Far more interesting is the phone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, which is the latest wide-form-factor foldable.

Hands-on images posted to Weibo provide a better look at the new device. Like the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the overall shape is shorter and wider, opening up to a much wider inner display compared to most foldables, including Xiaomi’s previous releases. This one specifically looks like the Huawei Pura X View, even using the same “Dark Cherry” red color that both devices are technically copying from rumors of the iPhone 18 series – wild times folks, wild times.
