Samsung has delayed its Android 17 update

Samsung appears to be delaying the rollout of its Android 17 update, at least slightly, with pushback in some regions.

The launch of a stable One UI 9 rollout for Galaxy S26 was first announced last week, with the Android 17-based update landing first on Samsung’s current flagship before expanding to more devices. Samsung explicitly said the rollout was supposed to start on September 16, but it doesn’t appear to have shown up for anyone just yet.

While the reason is unclear, SammyGuru spotted a sort of confirmation that Samsung has delayed its Android 17 in some capacity.

A press release around the One UI 9 rollout on Samsung’s Newsroom in Thailand noted a rollout date of September 21 originally, but was updated to say September 28, and now appears to have been updated again to remove a specific date altogether, only saying “September 2026” at this point.

This isn’t unprecedented; Samsung has had numerous major updates be delayed quietly at the last moment, but it’s certainly not the best start for One UI 9’s rollout. Hopefully, whatever issues are pushing Samsung’s schedule back can be fixed as soon as possible.
