Color LED bulbs were refusing to do their job because of a Google Home bug. Google says the fix is rolling out now.
According to a few users on Reddit, Google Home isn’t properly adjusting color on smart bulbs. Users say it hasn’t been limited to just one brand, but devices across multiple brands like Philips Hue, Tuya, and Lumiman. The issue was affecting both voice controls and app controls, which are usually more reliable and easier to adjust. But the color sliders did nothing for affected users.
Google responded to the Reddit thread to say a fix is currently rolling out. The post author has since updated the thread to say their voice commands and app are now reliably controlling bulb color.
The post was barely a day old when Google first let users know it was working on a fix. Just a few hours later, an update was rolling out. The quick turnaround is likely appreciated for this bug because it broke a critical component and selling point for not only Google Home but also smart bulb manufacturers.
Color control might have been broken while Google works on other additions to the app. Monthly updates are being released to address the functions and bugs appearing as Google Assistant fades into the background, which has officially happened as of last month.
Were/are you experiencing a bug that broke smart bulb color control? It should be fixed now, but if it isn’t, let us know.
