Payday’s first full-VR game is on the cusp of release, but you don’t have to wait! Join the playtest now and get exclusive rewards when the full game releases on November 5.
It’s almost hard to believe we’re getting such a big-name VR release like Payday: Aces High this late in 2026, but the release is almost upon us, and the second public play test has already begun! The free playtest runs from October 19 through 26 on Steam and Meta Quest, and you can take part in the final Payday: Aces High playtest by visiting the store page on Steam and Meta Quest.
Players who join this week will earn a limited edition Kitty mask, which is exclusive to the play test. Nothing like looking elite just because you played a free game, right? The final game debuts on November 5 on Meta Quest, SteamVR, and Steam Frame for $24.99 USD.

Not familiar with the Payday series? Maybe you’ve been hiding in a bank vault for the past decade and a half, but the concept is pretty simple. You and three other “professionals” take on missions to rob higher and higher profile targets, grabbing as much sweet loot along the way as you can.
Payday: Aces High rewards players for stealth and clever play, meaning you earn more on missions you don’t botch. The co-op gameplay requires real teamwork if you want to last, and the VR version takes this to new heights with natural body language and emotions, plus an entirely new story with new protagonists (called The Aces) to play as. As players earn cash and other in-game currency, they can unlock new weapons, traps, masks, and abilities, so your time is fully rewarded.
I got to play an early version of Payday: Aces High back in August, plus the first play test, and as a fan of the series, I can tell you this is an incredible entry. This week’s play test includes a second mission that wasn’t in the first play test, so you can rack up even more experience before going into the final game in a few weeks. The final game will have around seven missions at launch, with additional ones planned for after release.
What are you waiting for? Slap on that VR headset, plan those heists, and feel great about the big payoff.
