Not every company can schedule their FCC certifications to drop the day their product is announced. It’s still a few weeks until Samsung’s Galaxy S7 event, but the device has already passed through the agency.
The documents cover only various tests on LTE and radio frequency (RF) and do not reveal any new pictures of the device. However, we have learned that the rumored 5.1-inch S7 will have model number SM-G930A, while the 5.5-inch Edge will be SM-G935A. The last letter of the model number is different depending on which carrier the device is on. All the US models are expected to have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 82o processor paired with 4GB of RAM.
The FCC certifications give credence that the rumored March 11 launch date of the Galaxy S7 is very plausible. Like previous Galaxy devices, all four of the major carriers, and likely the smaller ones, will carry the device on that Friday launch day. Samsung’s MWC Unpacked event is scheduled for February 21 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST and will be live-streamed on YouTube.
