Google goes big with Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus and small with Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11”

Along with the latest ChromeOS features, Google today announced two new devices that span the full size spectrum: Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11” and Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11”

Lenovo’s latest Duet starts with an 11-inch (10.95”) touchscreen display (2K, 16:10 aspect ratio) that makes for a straightforward tablet. There are 5MP front-facing and 8MP rear-facing cameras. It’s powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 838 with 4GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.

Google touts a palm rejection model that lets you “sketch with precision” when paired with a USI stylus. One isn’t included in the box at all retailers, but there are bundles. You’ll soon get three months of Goodnotes, which has been optimized for stylus-compatible Chromebooks.

What you do get is a magnetic keyboard and kickstand. The latter allows you to prop up the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11” in both portrait and landscape orientations.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11” starts at $339 from Lenovo.com:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage w/ Keyboard & USI Pen 2.0: $339.99
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage w/ Keyboard & USI Pen 2.0: $389.99

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus

Meanwhile, Samsung’s new device is the thinnest and lightest Chromebook Plus. There’s a 15.6-inch OLED, though the entire package is less than half-an-inch thin (11.8 millimeters) and 2.58 pounds. As such, you get a full number pad.

It’s powered by an Intel Core 3 100U (Raptor Lake-R) processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Battery life is rated for up to 13 hours of battery life.

There’s a new Quick Insert key — more about that here — in place of the Launcher key, which has moved to a new “G” key to the left of the space bar. In terms of new functions keys, there’s voice dictation (F10) and accessibility (F11).

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is available in October and costs $699.
