Google Wallet rolls out Quick Settings Tile on Samsung phones

After announcing in late August, the Google Wallet Quick Settings (QS) Tile for Samsung Galaxy phones has now widely launched.

Compared to other Android devices, Samsung phones have long lacked this shortcut that provides one-touch access to Google Wallet from Quick Settings. “Wallet” features the simplified app icon with a tap simply opening the full app.

While you can just bring your phone to a reader and pay, launching the app is needed if you want to use something other than the default card. This shortcut is also nice as Google Wallet gains support for more types of passes, including IDs.

We’re seeing the Wallet shortcut widely rolling out after updating to the latest stable version (24.39) of Google Play services today. (Visit the Play Store listing to update.) Make sure the Google Wallet app (24.38) is also up-to-date.

In other things, you might be noticing how the “Wallet” name briefly changes to “Google Wallet” in the top-left corner when you open the app. That might ultimately be a bug, but the extra branding doesn’t hurt.
