With the November Wear OS 5 update, Google did not fix the original Pixel Watch reverting to the old Roboto font.
Outside of soft-bricking for some — but not all — owners, the first-generation Pixel Watch strangely switched from the Google Sans font to Roboto. After installing this month’s release, the old font is still showing on a device that successfully updated back in September.
Android’s old font from the early 2010s just looks a little bit off and less sleek in the modern era, especially when you go from the wearable to your phone. There’s no reason for Google to make a font change on just one device, and this being a bug makes the most sense.
Roboto vs. Google Sans
This change is applied to every single screen from the screen lock number pad to the Settings list and inside apps. Some telltale differences are the letter ‘G’ and numbers. Of course, there’s no impact to functionality, but it might take a few days to adjust.
With the “next update planned for March 2025,” this does not necessarily bode well for a quick resolution. That said, there could always be an unscheduled fix.
