Following the first Google TV Streamer patch last week, a new Chromecast with Google TV update is rolling out.
The STTL.240812.006.N1 (from STTL.240812.006) update for the Chromecast with Google TV keeps the Android security patch level at September 2024. This is still Android 12 and not yet reflected in the Google changelog.
At 59.48 MB, it’s smaller than the 83.01 MB update in October. There are just “Other bug fixes and performance improvements.”
It is the eight Chromecast with Google TV update in 11 months — February, March, April, May, August, September, October, and November, with 2023 only seeing six patches.
This release could be rolling out ahead of the big Android 14 update that adds a “Home runtime” to allow the Chromecast with Google TV to serve as a hub for Matter devices. Google still has a few weeks to deliver.
On your Chromecast with Google TV, go to Settings > System > About > System update.
