Galaxy Buds 4 go back to the old case with redesign, head gestures, upgraded sound from $179

Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro earbuds alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup. The new buds offer solid improvements, including head gestures, upgraded woofers, and adaptive EQ.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Buds 4 series‘ design is the culmination of “hundreds of millions of global ear data points” and “over 10,000 simulations.” That’s where the new “blade” design philosophy comes into play. Apparently, the computational design is designed to be far more comfortable for users, while looking “ultra-sleek.”

The new look is certainly something, and there’s a new case to go with it. This case reverts to a previous style, except this one has a transparent hood. The battery inside can keep the buds going for up to 30 hours with ANC off, powered by the 515mAh unit inside the charger and 45mAh/61mAh inside the buds. On a single charge, Samsung says to expect 6 hours and 7 hours for the Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro, respectively.

This year, it appears we’re looking at new internals beyond just the battery. The Galaxy Buds 4 bring a “wider” woofer and tweeter setup. It’s said to offer more dynamic and rich audio by maximizing the speaker portion and limiting the parts that don’t move air. Speaker area has increased by 20% and both models support up to 24-bit audio, but you’ll need a Galaxy phone.

The new bit comes from Samsung’s software. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro feature Enhanced Dynamic ANC and EQ, in addition to standard Enhanced ANC. The former two features work together to offer sound that’s reportedly more true to life. The Galaxy Buds 4 analyze the user’s ear shape to deliver audio in the most efficient way, while utilizing adaptive ANC to cut out noises with less distortion.

Samsung baked in a lot of proprietary features, too. Users who pair the earbuds to their Galaxy devices will get access to other functions, like Head Gesture controls and faster pairing. The head gesture controls allow wearers to manage calls and other controls without touching the buds. Both models make use of touch sensors in the blades, if head gestures aren’t your thing.

Both buds are semi-resistant to water, coming in at IP54 and IP57 for the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro. With that and adaptive ANC and EQ that pick up on sirens and bring improved Clear Calling, they’re built for whatever Galaxy users want to throw at them. They’ll work with any other Bluetooth device, but don’t expect all the whistles.

The Galaxy Buds 4 come in at $179, while the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are $249. Both are available for pre-order, and getting them straight from Samsung has its benefits. Those who pre-order the Galaxy S26 series devices can get a discounted pair of Galaxy Buds 4 Pro for only $74 if you choose not to trade a device in. Samsung generally ends those offers when pre-orders are up.
