Samsung isn’t quite ready for One UI 8.5 rollout as another beta hits devices

The One UI 8.5 beta is now on its seventh update, marking one of the longest beta phases for Samsung’s OS in recent history.

According to a Twitter/X post by @tarunvats33, One UI 8.5 beta 7 is currently rolling out for users. This update seems to be hitting devices in the US, Korea, Germany, India, Poland, and the UK. That could change soon, as it looks like the update is gaining speed faster than expected.

Samsung’s seventh One UI 8.5 beta update contains a handful of bug fixes. This comes a couple of weeks after Samsung released the previous verison of One UI 8.5 beta – the sixth version. The changelog lists the following:

  • Fixed an issue where the proximity sensor malfunctioned, causing calls to switch to video calls
  • Fixed an issue where the color palette was not applied to GMS apps in the work/security folder.
  • Improved the visibility of the Gmail search input box in dark mode
  • Fixed an issue where the Gallery crashed while launching a new project
Fixed an issue where photos could not be exported from private albums in Gallery
  • Fixed an issue where Toast pop-ups did not appear during DeX connection with heat generation
  • Fixed an issue where Fahrenheit temperature information was cut off after adding a city to the Weather widget
  • Fixed an issue where a one-time Wi-Fi recovery occurred during Wi-Fi roaming scanning with AP supporting MBSSID (Multiple BSSID)
  • Fixed stuttering and freezing issues when first entering the unread message inbox in the Samsung Messages app
  • Fixed an issue where notifications were not displayed in the notification window under certain conditions

The update comes in close to a gigabyte for some devices, which makes it substantial for how late this update arrives in the testing phase.

The Galaxy S26 series has already been launched with the public-facing version of One UI 8.5. It was expected that Samsung would release the same builds for Galaxy S25 devices and earlier. That doesn’t seem to be the case as the company is still working on a stable release for devices testing the OS version out.

Those on the One UI 8.5 beta program should be able to update their device as normal by heading into the settings and looking for the software updates page.
