One UI 9 appears before users get the latest public version, but don’t get too excited

As the dust settles behind the Galaxy S26 launch, One UI 9 has reportedly already been spotted in a new leak. The upgrade would replace Samsung’s current One UI 8.5 build.

According to online reports, One UI 9 has appeared on Samsung’s internal testing server (via @tarunvats33, SamMobile). The software version carries the BZC5 identifier with versions for each Galaxy S26 model spotted.

The leaked One UI 9 won’t be released until the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung’s other offerings appear later in the year. The company switched to a different software schedule that has half-versions released with the flagship slab devices like the Galaxy S26 series. Those devices were most recently launched with One UI 8.5. One UI 9 will presumably appear with Samsung’s foldables.

This leak showing off Samsung’s One UI 9 is slightly more substantial than a simple spot, as there is a hands-on aspect. SamMobile‘s hands-on suggests small UI changes appear in One UI 9. For instance, the volume and brightness sliders are now slightly larger. Parental controls are also a more prominent entry in the settings app.

None of this is inherently telling. Internal builds are closer to proofs of concept than meaningful, feature-packed releases. Expect One UI 9 to be announced and released closer to Samsung’s next device launch. For now, the company is still working on One UI 8.5 for devices beyond the Galaxy S26 series.
