We’ve already known that Redmagic is cooking up a sequel to its compact Astra gaming tablet, but a new leak reveals that not only is OLED returning, but with a wild 200Hz display.
Leaker Digital Chat Station says that “a certain mini tablet,” the sequel to Redmagic Astra, will be shipping with three key offerings. Firstly, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Beyond that, “one of the largest batteries in its class.” And, finally, a truly wild display.
The leak claims that Redmagic’s new tablet will have a 200Hz OLED display, which is expected to stick with a 9-inch size. That beats out Lenovo’s Legion Tab and its 165Hz display, and with OLED on top of that, it should be a major difference in quality.
The exact battery spec isn’t mentioned, but “one of the largest” implies it will either match or beat the 9,000 mAh battery in the latest Legion Tab.
The Redmagic “Gaming Tablet 5 Pro” is set to launch soon, the company recently teased, but an exact launch date is unclear. What also remains a mystery is whether or not we’ll see a release outside of China, and what the cost might be. Lenovo’s comparable tablet ended up debuting with a massive $300 price hike over the prior generation.
