Given how personal and expressive glasses can be, it’s important that they are available in a wide variety of styles. Google’s upcoming Android XR glasses will eventually have designs from Gucci.
According to Reuters, Gucci-branded smart glasses are coming next year. There are no other details today, including whether they will be audio-only or feature displays. The former would be much easier to pull off.
Given the probable timing, this partnership likely won’t be part of the initial wave that launches this year.
Gucci today sells both optical frames and sunglasses, with Google wanting something you can wear all day instead of just when you’re outdoors or doing an activity.


Google has already announced partnerships with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for Samsung-made glasses.
The model we’re likely going to see is shared internals and different frame designs. Compared to Wear OS, the specs will probably be greatly standardized.
Meta partnered with EssilorLuxottica on Ray-Ban and Oakley styles, while Google Glass saw a Diane von Furstenberg collaboration to make the early effort more fashionable.
