Rumors have suggested the Galaxy Z Fold series would take a big step in removing the inner display crease left from folds past. A leaked video claims to show what the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra looks like without a crease.
The Momentary Digital account on Weibo reportedly posted a video of an early Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra unit with the internal display opened. The video shows a Galaxy Z Fold device, but which one isn’t immediately clear. The display has no visible crease, and if it’s the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, then it could mean Samsung has reached a design that eliminates a major hurdle for some users.
At certain angles, small bumps from the internal hinge can be seen towards the end of the display. When the light catches it just right, you can still see a small dip. But there aren’t any visible canyons across the panel like every other foldable from Samsung.

The argument that this phone has never been folded before could be made, suggesting that the new device wouldn’t have the fold imprint yet. The video counters that with several folds done on camera. A new Galaxy Z Fold 7 would take on a display crease immediately, but the supposed Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in the video does not.
One could argue that the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s display crease was the only major downside to an otherwise exceptionally designed phone. If you can live with it, it might be worth picking up as the price dips.
Previous leaks have suggested the two new phones would mark a milestone for Samsung with its displays, but the video doesn’t include a Galaxy Z Fold 8 – just the Ultra. Considering the two devices aren’t all that dissimilar, it’s possible the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has the same glass characteristics. For now, the more expensive Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra model is the only one with more convincing evidence to back that claim up.
The only confirmation we have from Samsung is when the device will launch. July 22 is the next Galaxy Unpacked, when the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be launched alongside new watches.
