Googler outs Nexus Prime camera taking picture of Apple Store

What’s so special about this photo of an Apple retail store? Other than the touching memorial to Steve Jobs, the image was apparently snapped with Google’s yet to be unveiled Nexus Prime.

Discovered on Picasa via Google+ user Chris Yerga (who works on the “Android team at Google) and Google engineer Roman Kirillov, the images originally posted here and here have since been removed.

We don’t learn a whole lot from the EXIF data. First, it looks like the device might be branded “Galaxy Nexus” rather than Nexus Prime. It also lists a 0.041 second (1/24) exposure, and f/2.75 aperture. While the images were resized by default to 3-megapixels by Picasa, we know the device is rumored to sport an 8-megapixel full 1080p capable camera.

The launch of the Galaxy Prime was originally expected at Samsung and Google’s Mobile Unpacked event on October 11th but was delayed out of respect for the passing of Steve Jobs. We reported this morning claims from blogger Eldar Murtazin that Google is actually delaying the launch while it removes features that may come under scrutiny by Apple’s legal team. However, 9to5Google has heard from a reliable source that Google will be sending out invites in the next day or two and patents didn’t play a role in the delay. Android Community reports Samsung UK sales director Andrew Glass recently confirmed the device will be hitting “shops sooner than you think” and also referred to it as the “Nexus Prime”, going against the “Galaxy Nexus” branding from the EXIF data.
