Motorola prices the Moto360 smartwatch at $249 in latest documents

Motorola’s contest for designers to win a Moto360 carries with it an unexpected piece of information. Buried within the official documents for the rules and terms of the contest is an ARV — Approximate Retail Value — for the Moto360, stating that Motorola is currently valuing the device at $249.

This is in no way a finalized retail price, but it is at the very least decent estimate at what the final price for consumers may be. Considering that $249 is currently the asking price for other high-end smartwatches, it also seems reasonably competitive. If Android Wear can deliver on the software side, Motorola may have a very strong product with the Moto360.

No release date has been given for the Moto360 yet, though, so it seems that the best way right now to try and grab one is to jump on the contest. If, like me, you have no designing skills whatsoever, you’ll have to wait until the watch is released later this summer.
