Samsung reportedly working on a new round face smartwatch with cellular connectivity

Motorola and LG aren’t the only ones working on a smartwatch with a round face, Samsung is also in the process of developing a next-gen timepiece with a more traditional appearance. According to the folks at SamMobile, the South Korean electronics manufacturer is gearing up for the release of a new round smartwatch with cellular connectivity.

It’s unknown if Samsung’s new watch will run Android Wear or the company’s homegrown Tizen operating system, however the device is expected to be announced a few months after the Galaxy Note 4 is made official. So it’s possible that we might see something before the end of the year.

By being one of the first companies to release an Android Wear device, Samsung could easily already have an encore in the works. The company is expected to have a big showing next week at IFA, in Berlin and seeing how it managed to keep its Gear Live smartwatch under wraps heading into Google’s I/O conference, it’s possible we could see a new timepiece unveiled next week, but we wouldn’t bet on it.
