Early last year, Google announced its intentions to make Provo, Utah its third Fiber city. In October, the company opened up sign-ups for a few customers along the local Veracity Networks provider, but told everyone else they would have to wait. Today, Google has announced that customers that live along the former iProvo can start signing up for Google Fiber.
As explained last year, Google is offering three tiers of service to customers in Provo. The first one is free for at least seven years and provides speeds of 5Mbps down and 1Mbps up. There is a $30 one-time installation fee associated with this option, however. The second tier offers true Fiber speed sod 1Gbps down and 1Gbps up for $70 a month. Finally, the third tier offers the same internet speeds, but also includes Google’s TV service. This plan runs $120 and offers a DVR with the ability to record 8 shows at once.
Google will begin the actual in-house Fiber installations in February and gradually rollout to other neighborhoods though the Summer of 2014.
- North Park – Thursday, February 20.
- Downtown Provo – Thursday, March 6.
- Pioneer/West Provo – Thursday, March 27.
- Grandview – Spring 2014.
- North Provo – Summer 2014.
- Southeast Provo – Summer 2014.
- Foothills – Summer 2014.
Google will also open up a brand new Fiber Space in the Shops at Riverwoods to show off Fiber and the speeds and services it offers.
