Sony says direct upload to YouTube launching on PS4 later this year

At Sony’s E3 press event tonight, the company announced that the PS4 will be receiving the ability to upload game footage directly to YouTube later this year. While the console was previously capable of uploading directly to Facebook (and thereby indirectly to YouTube via a video downloader), the ability to upload to Google’s service directly has been a long-requested feature.

At the conference, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Shawn Layden also mentioned that the service has seen 150 million spectate sessions, and that the share button on the DualShock 4 controller has been pressed more than 220 million times.

With a simple press of the DualShock 4 share button, PS4 gamers will be able to quickly upload video captures to their youtube channel. You will also be able to see your friends’ shared youtube videos in your “what’s new” activity feed.
