Turning two in March, Android Wear now has its own Twitter account. Besides software updates, most news about Wear revolves around new watchfaces from fashion brands and designers. Their inaugural tweet alludes to posts about fashion, fitness, and the like…
Wear watches are due for a software update at any moment. Android Wear 1.4 was announced in November with speaker support for taking phone calls, new gestures for interacting with the watch without needing to touch it, and a new voice feedback that reads out incoming notifications. The first device with Wear 1.4 shipped in November, but was recalled due to display issues. Huawei is already testing the Android 6.0.1 update among beta testers and other OEMs should be almost ready to release.
At CES, Huawei announced a women’s jewel-encrusted version of their watch and Casio introduced a Wear device built for the great outdoors. New Balance, in partnership with Intel, also announced their plans to release a smartwatch running Wear in time for this year’s holiday season.
